Although ice cubes have been shown to greatly reduce swelling
and pain, it is important to use ice packs correctly to avoid further
injury.
Avoid the following common mistakes when using homemade
ice
packs:
1. Excessive injury: Because ice constricts blood vessels, it
can reduce blood flow to the injured area and delay the healing process. Each
application of the ice pack does not exceed 10 minutes.
2. Apply ice cubes directly on the bare skin: If done
incorrectly, ice cubes may cause frostbite and damage the delicate tissues of
the skin. The sewn fabric set onto the gel ice pack-which can be inserted
between the ice pack and the skin-can help you avoid injuries.
3. Do not lift the injury: If you use the gel pack when you are
injured, please lift the affected body part as much as possible.
