Soroka wins arbitration, Dansby on deck

  • Braves NewsIt was a quiet Saturday on the Braves front as we still don have any resolution to the Braves bench woes nor do we know if they are going to ultimately add to their bullpen However, one bit of news came out that Mike Soroka and the Braves had their arbitration hearing on Friday. Subsequently, it was announced on Saturday that Soroka was triumphant in his case against the Braves and will make $2.8 million in 2021. Given that the Braves had filed to pay him $2.1 million, the result is a nice $700K raise over the Braves figure. We imagine there is a bit of celebration in the Soroka household right now. That means that the last Brave whose arbitration status has yet to be determined is Dansby Swanson. Dansby filed at $6.75 million while the Braves filed at $6 million and we can expect to get a resolution to that case pretty soon. There doesn seem to be too many hurt feelings on Dansby end as he recently upgraded his living situation in the Atlanta area with the purchase of a nearly $1.7 million home.MLB NewsDodgers bring Justin Turner back on two-year dealJustin Turner was a guy that a lot of Braves fans had their eyes on leading into Spring Training Chad Sobotka Cat Jersey....mainly because he can hit and was still on the free agent market and not because of any meaningful connection or chance that the Braves were going to sign him. This proved correct as Turner was widely expected to re-sign with the Dodgers and he did just that.Jay Bruce, Yanks agree on Minors dealIt wasn that long ago that Jay Bruce was one of the more fearsome power hitters in MLB. His hit tool was pretty suspect even at his best, but he would also have stretches where he looked like Babe Ruth. Injuries and Father Time have caught up to Bruce in recent years and he had to settle for a minor league deal with the Yankees for the 2021 season.Matt Harvey and Orioles have Minors dealMatt Harvey keeps finding employment even though his performance in the last few seasons has been largely not great and his presence can be a bit of a distraction The Orioles are now giving him a shot on a minor league deal.
