EA Sports teased this pairing by releasing a Monday video

  • Brady and Mahomes will share the front cover of Madden NFL 22, EA Sports announced Thursday, less than one year after Mahomes and Brady fought each other on Mut 21 coins the game's biggest stage.

EA Sports teased this pairing by releasing a Monday video with Peyton Hillis, a former Browns running back and Madden NFL cover player. In the video, Hillis is shown taking a knee with the goats, while on the phone. He is heard telling the unnamed person calling him "they have done it again."

EA Sports did something new that's never before seen for two generations of consoles. It's been a decade since Hillis graced the cover of Madden NFL series' annual entry, and it's been even longer since the game had an athlete cover with two athletes.

Madden hasn't seen two sportsmen share the space that forms the front of the game, since Madden NFL 10 in the year that Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald and Steelers safety Troy Polumalu appeared on the front of the cover, appearing as being close to colliding. It was the perfect match for the game and was built around a unique mechanic that let players battle for loose balls and compete for additional yards -- the inches that usually determine the outcome of an event.

Then, two years later Hillis made the cover of Madden NFL 12 in the most dramatic of cheapest madden 21 coins the fan vote upsets. EA chose him as the perfect pitch man in its teaser video released Monday. The thinly veiled messaging became clear Thursday: Hillis' goats were simply stand-ins for two G.O.A.T.s.
